Originally posted by slowpoke: I am sorry to here about your friend, my condolence. 10 Degrees: You catch on quick. I have found that using a 10 degree orb for transits constantly leaves me reeling from Astrological calamity to another with no chance of catching my breath. Analyzing becomes too frustrating and discouraging. So, I prefer 5 degree orbs because this is when I begin to feel the strongest aspect impulse. The drawback is that I have to plan for smaller moments of opportunity and that the most desirable aspects never last long enough for me to fully appreciate the benefits. Transit Timing: Transits are tricky to fully understand, because there are two elements to effectively using them. You have the day to day transit - this is what most people focus on. And then, there is the timing issue within one day - this is when the Sun goes through all of the signs within a twenty-four hour period. This, is again, when the Sun may trigger the very same aspects you see on a day to day basis, instead this happens on a hourly basis. If we look at transits from this point of view - we may be able to see at what point of time your friend may have been most prone to taking his final action. Construct your one day transit clock: If you are into transit work, you should go to one of the websites that offer a free pie natal chart. Use your date of birth and get a natal chart for every fifteen minute interval with that twenty-four hour period. Once you have collected the pie charts, notice how the Sun and planets move from house to house position and how they make aspect to the Asc and Mc. The Sun's position will be the key - to where it is through the course of the day - relative to your known natal planet positions. Composites: Personally speaking, explanations that surround Composite aspects makes sense to me. But, when I tried putting it into practice, unexplainable things seem to always happen and I would struggle in trying to find hidden meanings into the unexplained. It wasn't until I had an unexpected run in with the law - while using Composite interpretations that I dropped it and started learning Synastry Astrology instead. In time I began comparing Composite to Synastry and discovered - if the Composite aspects were really good, the Synastry aspects tended to be really bad; if the Synastry aspects were really good then the Composites were really bad. But the most important thing relative to my concerns was that when I use Synastry aspects to kick off an initiative - the results were always what the Synastry would suggest with no surprises. Transit & Synastry aspects: This conversation has been about transits and I have not strayed away from it by talking about Synastry aspects that is because Transit aspects equal Synastry aspects. Take your birthdate and see what the transit aspects will be for you on July 25, 2012. Now, lets say you are having a baby and she is expected to arrive on July 25, 2012 at noon. Get a Synastry chart made between you and your expected child, notice the similarity between aspects between your transit aspects of 725.12 and your Synastry aspects of your expected child - the results are very close to being the same. What does this mean? You can use either future transit aspects or future Synastry aspects to find favorable dates to start future projects. slowpoke
